Frontier models are trained on trillions of tokens, and the answer to "what was it trained on?" is usually "a large mixture of public and licensed data." We wanted the opposite answer. Every sentence brAIAIn has ever read fits on one page, with the version it entered and whether somebody paid for it.

brAIAIn is a word trigram model. It is real. It is very small.

How it works

The architecture is a count-based trigram model with bigram backoff and a whitespace tokenizer. The context window is two tokens. The parameters are word counts.

Results so far

brAIAIn-0 brAIAIn-2.67-turbo
Vocabulary 96 words 130 words
Parameters 320 456
Training text the model wrote itself 0% 41.9%
GSM8K (all 1,319 problems) 0.0% 0.0%
TruthfulQA MC1, per-word 32.4% 29.7%

TruthfulQA is scored without showing the model the question. Its best per-word score, 36.7%, is just below a baseline that always picks the longest answer (36.8%). It has never solved a math problem. One paid sentence asks it not to try.

Between 20% and 42% of its unprompted output repeats a training sentence word for word. The rest are recombinations. Asked "What is the meaning of life?", one version answered: "The meaning of life is a matter for the board, which is a goose." Nobody wrote that sentence.

Naming

Paid releases get whole numbers. Lab releases between them get point releases, in the industry style: 2.1, 2.5, 2.5 (new), 2.67-turbo, 2.7-preview. The next paid sentence returns to a whole number.

Try it

Weights, data and code are public domain (CC0). BRAIAIN Laboratories is a parody of an AI lab. The model, the data and the measurements are real.
